Day Sixty: Tuesday, August 4, 2009: Laura and Euna are Free!

Day Sixty: Tuesday, August 4, 2009
Another Media Blitz.

We all were waiting for word from North Korea once we knew Bill Clinton had arrived. Brendon was assured from some of his State Department sources that this would be in and Bill would get their release.

We still could not believe it until we got final confirmation.

As the morning progressed we heard of Bill meeting with Kim Jung Il and then that they were pardoned, then released and finally that they were on the plane home.

I had a class from 8-12 to be able to train the staff on the new online Zangle grading system.During the morning I began getting calls from the media wanting to speak with me about the imminent release.

First I agrees to speak with a woman from ABC in San Franciso who covers then capital. I met here at 11 a.m. then I met with David Bieneck from KCRA at noon which was great as he was the first one who interviewed me back in March.

I had to go home to meet the guys from RC Willey with the HDTV between 1 and 3. At home I did a phone interview with the Bee and TV interviews with Anny Hong at CBS 13 and the woman who has been at all the events from Fox 40. Somewhere in there I also did a phone interview with KFBK. At about 3 I got a call from the Bee and they wanted to get a photo. They sent out a photographer, Renee Byers, and she wound up driving me back to school to take a photo of the poster. As we were driving down I found out she had one a Pulitzer. Here is the picture she took that ran in the Bee.

The girls are freed.

Check out Renee's Pulitzer prize winning series.
